Update on the COVID-19 booster programme (14th December 2021)

In line with the Government’s announcement, the NHS is aiming to offer every adult the chance to book a COVID-19 booster vaccine by the end of the year. This means our practice is now prioritising the booster rollout.

As part of this, some of our routine services may be stood down temporarily to allow us to focus on protecting as many patients as possible.

We are still there for anyone who may need care for an urgent need, but would ask for patience as we support this key national priority over the coming weeks. We hope to be able to stand back up any services as soon as possible and will update this page as soon as we know more.

Please don’t forget there are many services available for you, depending on your condition. These include:

  • Self-care – This is the best choice to treat minor illnesses and injuries such as hangovers, coughs, colds, grazes, small cuts or sore throats. Many of these can be treated at home, simply with over-the-counter medicines and plenty of rest.
  • Pharmacy – Pharmacists can give advice on and treat a range of symptoms. They can support you with things such as diarrhoea, earaches, painful coughs, sticky eyes, teething and rashes.
  • NHS 111 – You can access 111 online or via the telephone. This is for any urgent but non-life threatening health concerns. They will be able to signpost you to the relevant service and provide advice where appropriate, or book you in to an Urgent Treatment Centre.
  • A&E / 999 – You should only attend A&E or dial 999 in a life-threatening emergency such as severe bleeding, breathing difficulties and severe chest pain.

If you are now eligible for your COVID-19 booster please book it as soon as you can. It is vital as many people as possible get boosted as soon as possible. Please do not ring the practice regarding your boosters, instead visit https://www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/coronavirus-updates/Pages/coronavirus-vaccination-in-northamptonshire.aspx or call 119 to book an appointment or to find a walk-in clinic near you. You can also find out more about who is eligible, how the vaccine is given and other frequently asked questions.

26 January PLT has been cancelled

Therefore the practice will be open as per normal.
This is to ensure that we support the Covid vaccine clinics to be able to administer vaccines and also to continue to ease pressure for secondary care.

Important Changes

We have recognised it can be confusing to ring up at 11.45 for an appointment and get told to ring back at 12.  We have listened to your concerns and plan the following changes:

The surgery will remain open but our phone lines will close between 12-1.  This will allow staff to have some catch up between morning and afternoon sessions as well as ensure that there is a clear call time of 1pm when we will take calls for the afternoon appointments.

Thank you for your feedback.  Together we will work to improving your service.

COVID-19 (coronavirus) cases are rising in this area and you and your community are at risk! We need to work together to avoid a local lockdown.

We all need to follow these measures:

  • Minimise social contact where you can
  • If you have to go out, keep at least 2 metres from others
  • Use a face covering in all shops and if you are less than 2 metres from others
  • Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly for 20 seconds each time

COVID-19 symptoms include:

  • A high temperature
  • A new, continuous cough
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste

If you have COVID-19 symptoms:

  • Do not go to work - work from home or report sick
  • Stay at home, self-isolate and get a test - even if your symptoms are only mild
  • If you are contacted by the NHS test and trace service and asked to selfisolate, stay at home for 14 days

To get a test, either:

  • Book online at nhs.uk/coronavirus
  • Call 119
  • Home testing kits can also be ordered, subject to availability

Suspected coronavirus (COVID-19) Leaflet: Important information to keep you safe while isolating at home

As of week commencing 18.05.2020 we are changing how we see patients to start to see more patients as the lockdown is slowly phased out.  To do this, however, we need your support.

  1. All patients are still required to stay home if you have covid symptoms and NOT attend the surgery

  2. You are still required to ring before you attend and only attend if you really need to for reasons such as having a booked appointment

  3. You are still asked to use online services for ordering medication and nominate a pharmacy

  4. Please attend alone where possible or with 1 other family member, Carer or interpreter to minimise the footfall in the surgery

  5. Wear a face covering over your nose and mouth

  6. If you cannot adhere to the above you may be refused entry or asked to wait outside until your appointment time arrives

  7. You must wash your hands when entering and leaving the surgery for your own as well as our safety
